Discover Marsa Alam

Marsa Alam was a few years ago a fishing village and over the years, along the coast have developed numerous tourist facilities and resorts, especially after the inauguration in 2001 of the international airport, which is located about 70 km north of Marsa alam.

Marsa Alam growing continuously and is becoming a  popular destination for divers from around the worldfor the  uncontaminated coral reef and wild underwater life.

CLIMATE AND TEMPERATURE

The area of Marsa Alama is near the Tropic of Cancer, about 220 km far, however, presents a desert climate with hot and stable temperatures compared to other Egyptian tourist places and there are basically two seasons: hot summer and mild winter.

The climate is generally dry and  long precipitations are to be excluded. Especially in the morning, a hot wind blowing but never annoying and the afternoon generally tends to decline.

What's the ideal time for a holiday in Marsa Alam? Everything is subjective. In winter, from December to February, the temperature is pleasant but to swim  can be a bit cold, especially in December and January: depends on the day and the intensity of the wind, depends also on the individual characteristics (that is, if you are more or less sensitive to the cold). On coolest days the minimum down around 12 degrees and the maximum stay around 18/20 degrees.

Summer is hot and sunny. Typically the humidity is not very high, and the heat is not as intense as in the inland areas of Egypt, also often (but not always) the wind blows, it makes the heat more bearable. We should drink a lot and protect themselves from sunburn, because we are almost to the tropic. The maximum temperature is around 35-38 degrees, but when the winds blow from the inside, the temperature can exceed 40 degrees.

ACTIVITIES AND LEISURE

Port Ghalib is a city-resort with typical Egyptian shops, cafes', restaurants and overlooking a large artificial lagoon that can accommodate up to 1,000 yachts. The Corniche offers a colorful nightlife, where to shop and enjoy a drink at the local marina.

In Marsa Alam also you can enjoy the quads in the desert with a stop at a Bedouin tentor to ride in the desert with a camel, and of course the most famous activities of diving and snorkelling.
